There's a whole special issue of Cultural Geographies on walking:

Theoretical approaches that you often see crop up are psychogeographical
(situationist, surrealist) and (post-)phenomenological (you could look
up John Wylie's work here for example). There are plenty of others out
there. I think there's a book coming out from the ESRC project that
someone else mentioned, next month apparently.
In terms of "beyond" de Certeau, well, there are a number of ways you
could define that... Like "other-than" de Certeau. Have you looked into
Walter Benjamin's work? Much of it relates to walking in some way or
another.
