Editorial Introduction From: critical perspectives on international business, Volume 4, Issue 2/3
It is with great pleasure that we introduce this double special issue of critical perspectives on international business (CPOIB) devoted to "Critical reflections on management and organization: a postcolonial perspective". The idea of this special issue was conceived during a conversation between Bobby Banerjee, Co-Editor of the special issue, and Joanne Roberts, Co-Editor of CPOIB, at the Critical Management Studies Conference hosted by the University of Manchester, UK, in July 2007. This special issue presents an exemplar of what can be achieved by critical management scholars through their engagement with CPOIB. It is also an indicator of the growing maturity of CPOIB, and recognition of its academic credibility from scholars around the world.
"Critical reflections on management and organization: a postcolonial perspective" illustrates the ability of CPOIB to bring to publication significant thinking on topics of concern to its readers in a speedy and timely fashion. This special issue is truly global in scope, drawing together eleven papers contributing to postcolonial critiques of management and organization, in contexts as diverse as Poland, Jordan, China, India, Malaysia, Australia and Africa, from scholars located in four continents. The speed with which this special issue has been realised is due to the diligent work of the special issue editors, Bobby Banerjee and Anshuman Prasad, paper authors and reviewers as well as the efforts of George Cairns and the production team at Emerald.
With the support of its authors, readers, special issue editors, reviewers, Editorial Advisory Board and the Editorial Team at Emerald, CPOIB is going from strength to strength. In appreciation of the importance of critical management scholars to the success of the journal, we are delighted to be able to support the critical management studies track at this year's Academy of Management Conference with a $500 prize, including one year's free subscription, for the best paper on international business. The prize-winning paper will also be considered for publication in CPOIB.
We hope that readers enjoy this double special issue and that they will be stimulated to continue the debates on postcolonial management and organization through the pages of CPOIB. As always we welcome the submission of academic articles and position papers concerning CPOIB as well as reviews and review essays and special issue proposals. With the support of readers and contributors, CPOIB is developing its position as an important journal in the field of international business and management.
