******Call for papers EXTENDED DEADLINE*******
E-Health Workshop
Workshop in the context of BCS HCI, September 1-5, 2008, Liverpool, John
Moores University http://www.hci2008.org
Submission Deadline: 14th July, 2008
E-health refers to information and health services delivered via the
Internet or related technologies. Whilst the figures suggest that the
Internet is an e-health success story issues surrounding the credibility of
information, disclosure of sensitive information and personalisation raise
important questions for researchers and designers alike. The move towards
ubiquitous computing together with location and context aware devices
accentuates these concerns and highlights the relevance of trust, privacy
and security to the debate. The current growth in social networking sites
and the notion of web 2.0 is facilitating the exchange of information and
advice amongst patients but how are users managing their disclosure
preferences and their trusting relationships? In a sensitive domain such as
health we need to understand the ways in which people 'leak information' and
how service integration can be achieved in an individually and socially
acceptable manner. This one-day workshop aims to bring together an
interdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners to discuss how the
fields of human computer interaction and applied psychology can address the
issues raised by the growing domain of e-health. We welcome position papers
and/or original work (max
4 pages) which address these themes.
Topics include (but are not limited to):
Trust and credibility issues
Privacy and disclosure issues
Social networking and web 2.0 issues for health Ubiquitous computing
technologies for health Personalization and customisation of interfaces and
