Our team has finally stopped accepting free lunches from the drug reps. Most people were in favour until they realised they would have to pay for their christmas lunch! But we have stood firm.
I was interested to look at the nofreelunch site - in case any others are also interested just thought i'd pass on that it is actually www.nofreelunch.org
Regards,
Alex

Try www.nofreelunch.com <http://www.nofreelunch.com/>
When I was a Probationer CP in deepest Lincs in 1978 the local GPs would simply call up drug reps and ask them where to send their lunch bills. In Shropshire for at least 20 years the GPS have had holidays, computers, conferences abroad - you name it. Clinical Psychologists seem to want the same thing - Guy Holmes and I are no longer shocked during our Presciption Privileges training days when CPs line up to say, "We want free lunches too" or "We would prescibe more responsibly." Sigh

Hi,
I had the attached article sent to me; it's an interesting piece about the methods drug representatives use to 'target' GP's. I guess we all know it goes on but it's still quite chilling to read about how contrived the industry is.
I had a quick look at the site the article came from www.plos.org/ , its an open access scientific forum. I'm well aware that mentioning science on this list rarely goes down well (!) but the 'core pirinciples' of the site (from a brief glance) look relatively progressive (particulary about opening up science to the community).
