After some discussion with the Ethics-Powers-That-Be, we've
determined that we need to keep a written copy of an ethics approval
for all studies run at BUCNI. For anyone who has completed OR is
currently running OR who plans to run a study at BUCNI, we need the following:
Those studies using UCL Ethics approval, please send a copy of your
ethics approval letter to Jeannette Bayliss
([log in to unmask]). Please include the specific project name so
this can be easily matched to a given BUCNI project.
For anyone whose approval comes from outside of UCL (e.g. NHS, other
universities, etc), we will need two things:
1. A letter from the approval body explicitly saying that you have
ethics approval to scan at BUCNI. This needs to be a signed copy (a
scanned PDF is fine).
2. In addition, we need a copy of the UCL Indemnity approval. That
is, even for studies with ethical approval from outside of UCL, UCL
needs to provide insurance for non-negligent harm if the scanning is
conducted at UCL.
Please send these to Jeannette Bayliss ([log in to unmask]) and
please provide the study name as well. Without both these forms,
scanning cannot proceed.
We apologize for the extra administrative hassle, but if we don't
follow the full procedures, BUCNI can be shut down until we do. So,
if this applies to you, we ask that you prioritize providing this
information. if you have any questions about any of this, feel free
to contact Marty, Fred or myself.
Thanks!
Joe
