Dear Postgraduate members of BASEES,
My name is Josie von Zitzewitz and I am your new BASEES graduate Rep.
I would like to organise several broadly themed "study days" for graduates next
year. They would be more low-key than a conference and give people the chance to
present work in progress beyond the limits of a 15-minute conference paper. It
would also be possible to invite a senior academic to give an introduction to
the theme of the study day.
This is only in the planning stages yet and I depend on your input. I guess not
everyone has put their topic up on the BASEES website - it would be immensely
helpful if you got in touch with me and told me your area of interest, so that I
can decide on themes that are relevant to as many people as possible.
The first study day will take place at Oxford in autumn. I am looking for one or
two co-organisers from different universities to assist me in organising two
more study days in spring and summer. As I am a "literature person" myself,
co-organisers from other faculties are particularly welcome.
My role is to facilitate contact and exchange between graduates in Russian
studies and to make sure your concerns get heard at BASEES. So if there is
anything you would like to raise, or if you have an idea you'd like to
circulate, please let me know.
I am looking forward to hearing from you,
Best wishes,
Josie
