Archive Assistant (Sainsbury Archive)
£19,212 p.a. plus final salary pension scheme, fixed term contract until
March 2009
The Sainsbury Archive documents the history of the popular supermarket
chain since its foundation in Drury Lane in 1869.
We are looking for a motivated person to assist with collections
management and the provision of core archive services. This varied role
would provide suitable experience for someone who is interested in
pursuing a career in archives or who is currently undertaking professional
training.
As well as researching and responding to enquiries and assisting
researchers and visitors to the Sainsbury Study Centre, you will work on
the creation of a digital image library linked to the archive catalogue.
You will also assist the Archivist with the acquisition, storage,
preservation and cataloguing of the collection, and with the development
of user services, displays and resources for the Sainsbury Study Centre.
You will have experience of providing information services, and
demonstrable customer service skills. A confident communicator, you will
be well-organised and self-motivated, with excellent computer skills, and
a passion for history.
