Assistant Keeper of Manuscripts & Archives Special Collections Division
(fixed term from 8 September to 30 June 2009)
Salary £27,466 to £33,780 per annum (pro rata)

Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Keeper of Manuscripts &
Archives, based in the John Rylands Library on Deansgate in Manchester
city centre. The Library houses world-renowned collections of manuscripts
and archives in addition to extensive collections of printed books.
You will undertake a wide range of professional archivist's activities,
including documentation of the collections and assistance in their
management, as well as dealing with enquiries, assisting readers and
supervising staff, as required.
You will have a good honours degree, a professional archivist's
qualification or a higher degree in an area relevant to manuscripts. You
must also possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well
as being computer literate and accurate in your work. Previous relevant
experience will be an additional recommendation.
