I'd be grateful if you would bring this to the attention of colleagues and others who might be interested.
The post will not be advertised in ARC.
It would be suitable for someone considering work in the archives profession.
Thanks

The BAS Archives Service, which holds records reflecting all aspects of the Survey's activities since its origins in the 1940s, is currently seeking a Temporary Archives Assistant to join our small team. This is a temporary position, funded for 8 weeks.

You will be entitled to 30 days paid leave pa pro rata, flexible working hours and free car parking. We are looking for someone to start mid August 2008.
The job will involve sorting and cataloguing a large volume of records (reports, maps, photographs) returned to BAS Cambridge from scientific Antarctic bases at the end of the 2007/8 season and editing entries in the archives database to bring descriptions in line with new standards.
