Temporary cataloguing archivist required by CAT to catalogue the papers of
Jack Parsons. Jack Parsons was the UK's leading thinker and polemicist
regarding the vexed questions of population growth and the optimum
population for Britain and the world as a whole. He was a Malthusian, and
indeed (paraphrasing T. H. Huxley) liked to describe himself as "Malthus'
Bulldog". He was a great character, old-school, courteous, larger than
life, but who who would occasionally lose his rag completely. The
collection consists of around fifty archive boxes containing source
materials, reviews, press cuttings, and meticulously ordered
correspondence. It is already well-organised, but requires appraising and
cataloguing according to relevant international standards. This position
would be suitable for someone with a postgraduate qualification in Archive
Administration and experience of cataloguing archives.
