Ehud, thanks, an interesting paper. Where does the assumption that
"grain equals flour equals bread and nothing else" actually come from?
It is a widely held view and I am not saying that it is wrong. However,
the possibility of malt is hardly ever discussed.
Several years ago I began investigations into 'malt'. My first exercise
in the University Library was to check the reference sections of
archaeology books relating to grain, agriculture, origins, barley, wheat
etc etc and I found not a single reference to 'malt'. The situation has
not changed in over a decade. Just wondering, perhaps someone can
enlighten me.
