Internship available!
International Festival of Ethnographic Film
July 2009
Leeds/ United Kingdom
The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change (CTCC) is pleased to announce
its cooperation with the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great
Britain & Ireland (RAI) in the 2009 International Festival of
Ethnographic Film.
Launched in 1985, the aims of this renowned biennial film festival
include:
* to promote cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue through
ethnographic film
* to screen outstanding recent work in ethnographic film and
related documentary genres
* to showcase the work of young film-makers in these genres
* to explore new trends in these genres and their influence upon
one another and on visual anthropology
* to provide a marketing platform for both international and
British productions
The Centre for Tourism and Cultural Change (CTCC) is an established and
highly regarded international and interdisciplinary research centre at
Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. Through cutting-edge
interdisciplinary empirical research, publications, conferences,
postgraduate training and senior policy work, it has become a global
leader in theoretical and applied tourism research and training. For
more information on the CTCC, please visit www.tourism-culture.com
<http://www.tourism-culture.com/> .
Over the years, the CTCC has organised a variety of major international
conferences and events. For this forthcoming Ethnographic Film Festival
we would like to offer a unique opportunity to a motivated intern to
become part of our events team.
We are interested in a motivated and friendly person rather than in
diplomas. However, a background in cultural studies, tourism, film
studies, anthropology and/ or marketing would be an advantage. Our
policy is to give our interns a large amount of responsibility and
creative freedom in the managing of their projects, which will be
co-managed by an experienced member of staff. All tasks related to this
position can be learnt on the job. The internship should last for 6-8
months and start in December 2008 or earlier.
