Research Assistant / Research Associate
We are seeking a full time research assistant /
research associate in evidence synthesis to work
on the project ‘Molecular diagnosis of Central
Venous Catheter (CVC) associated infections’
funded by the NIHR Health Technology Assessment
Programme. This post offers an excellent
opportunity for a researcher to work on an
important clinical topic combining methods for
evaluating diagnostic tests and interventions.
The project will involve a series of systematic
reviews and use decision analytic methods to
undertake a clinical effectiveness analysis of
strategies for diagnosing and treating suspected
CVC infection in children with cancer. The
results will inform best practice and be used to
develop a protocol for a randomised controlled
trial of test-treatment strategies involving
rapid PCR testing for central venous catheter infection.
The post is funded by the NIHR Health Technology
Assessment Programme and is a joint initiative
between the Centre for Paediatric Epidemiology
and Biostatistics at the UCL Institute of Child
Health and Barts and the London NHS Trust.
All applicants must have an MSc or equivalent in
statistics, epidemiology or a related
subject. They will need to combine a sound
understanding of study design with skills in
meta-analysis and decision analytic modelling.
Applicants to be appointed to a Research
Associate (Grade 7) need to have a PhD or equivalent qualification.
Salary will be dependant on qualifications and
experience: Research Assistant will be at Grade 6
from £23,692 - £25,135 per annum; Research
