Hi Sally,

Congratulations - yes I think a display and/or brochure summarizing the
range of courses we offer nationally is a great idea. We could use the
updated SSA list and include contact details and relevant web sites.

Subject: [Addiction Course Convenors] 2010 Harm Reduction Conference

Hi Rowdy and others,

I thought you might be interested to know that a bid I was co-ordinating
with a colleague to bring the 2010 International Harm Reduction conference
back to Liverpool [the first was here in 1990] has been successful.

Its great for both LJMU and the city of Liverpool, but I hope the knock on
effects will be felt nationally. The conference will be held 24th - 29th
April 2010 and staged at the new conference centre at the Kings Dock on the
banks of the river Mersey.

It's the biggest harm reduction conference in the world and attracts around
1500 delegates - I thought perhaps we might be able to do something as a
group....perhaps some sort of display covering the range of courses we offer
nationally? ideas anyone?

Regards

Sally

Middlesex University

Middlesex University now offers the opportunity to gain either an Advanced
Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate in Dual Diagnosis via online distance
learning.

Foundations in Working with Dual Diagnosis introduces students to the key
issues in Dual Diagnosis while also reviewing and updating knowledge on
Mental Health and Substance Misuse.

Assessment and Treatment in Dual Diagnosis will equip students with
knowledge concerning the role of engagement, screening and assessment, and
deepen their knowledge and understanding of effective evidence based
interventions used in treatment.

You can take either course as a stand-alone module or complete both to gain
the Advanced Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate. The fee for each module
is £805. Both modules will commence in October 2008 and are of 24 weeks
duration. Further information can be obtained from our website at

http://www.mdx.ac.uk/hssc/business.

You may wish to bookmark this URL and check it periodically for news of
upcoming courses and events. Should you know of any colleagues or
associates who would benefit from these courses please make them aware of
these opportunities.
