Hi Geraldine,
Jiscmail has a set of tools, one of which allows listmembers to take
part in a survey. The advantage over just asking for opinions
frontchannel is that the software counts all the votes automatically. I
thought I'd set up a simple one to see how it would work.
You need to go to the address
http://www.jiscmail.ac.uk/lists/BRITISH-IRISH-POETS.html (copy and paste
into a browser).
Then if you click the "surveys" button, the interface will ask you to
log in. To do this you type in the email address you use to receive
posts from BRITISH-IRISH-POETS and the password you chose when you
joined, unless you've updated it. If your computer sets a cookie you
will be brought to a page where you will need to click a link to test if
the cookie is working.
Then (at last) you will be brought to the surveys page. There's a pull
down menu, choose "survey on reply options" and you'll be presented with
three radio buttons, tick one.
This is all new to me so apologies if my "explanation" is more byzantine
than is strictly necessary.
I'm trying this out because (a) I suspect a certain amount of list
dialogue is inadvertantly being lost backchannel and (b) there may be
creative possibilities with this software (it's not _all_ radio
buttons). I've changed the concluding date to the second of July on the
offchance I haven't put everybody off the idea entirely.
best
Randolph
