ESRC/Scottish Government 1+3 Studentship at the University of Edinburgh
The Edinburgh Law School is pleased to invite applications for a 1+3 PhD
Studentship, funded jointly by the ESRC and the Scottish government to start
in September 2008. The title of the Studentship is Victims of Crime in
Scotland: Interpreting Victim Experiences through Scottish Crime Survey
Data.
The 1+3 award includes participation in the MSc in Criminology and Criminal
Justice in 2008/09, followed (subject to satisfactory completion of the MSc)
by three years of doctoral studies on the PhD programme. A +3 award may be
considered if a student with an appropriate degree and quantitative training
applies.
The successful applicant will be co-supervised by a representative from the
Scottish Government and must comply with a number of mandatory conditions as
regards induction, training and involvement in policy events. The student
will also be affiliated with the Scottish Centre for Crime and Justice
Research (www.sccjr.ac.uk).
The award includes the payment of fees at the Home/EU rate and a maintenance
grant of £14,940 for each of the four years of study. To get the further

The closing date for the receipt of applications is Friday 25th July 2008,
and interviews will be held on 11th or 13th August. Applications should be
