Post-doctoral Scholar Position

Institute for Brain Aging & Dementia
The University of California, Irvine’s Institute for Brain Aging and
Dementia has an opportunity for postdoctoral scholar training positions
to work on projects related to exercise, brain aging, Alzheimer’s
Disease and other neurodegenerative diseases.
Requirements: The focus of the research is to investigate the effects of
regular physical activity on brain aging, cognitive function/dementia,
and to determine the possible role of genetic factors on the
effectiveness of exercise as an intervention. The project seeks to
translate findings on animal models to humans and in turn inform animal
studies from results on humans. A Ph.D. degree is required in one of
the following or related disciplines: neuroscience, physiology,
kinesiology, or psychology. The ideal candidate should also have
experience and/or interest in the following: exercise in aging
populations, measurement of physical activity, physical activity
interventions, neurocognitive testing, brain imaging, and genetic risk
factors for dementia.
The successful candidate must have a strong publication record and must
be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residence status. The salary will be
dependent on the education and experience of the individual candidate.
