The Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at TCD
invites applications for 7 PhD studentships to work on the Environment and
Climate Change: Impacts and Responses project funded by the HEA PRTLI 4
Programme. The project involves collaboration between TCD, NUIG, UCC,
NUIM, QUB, UL, CIT, Met Eireann and the Finnish Centre of Excellence. The
aim of the project is to develop a structured Graduate Environment PhD
Programme in relation to a research programme concerned with the impacts
of natural and anthropogenic pressures on air and coastal water quality,
climate change and marine ecosystems to underpin legislative and socio-
economic development. As part of the PhD structured programme, the
successful applicants will be required to take a number of taught modules
as part of their PhD.
The PhD projects will be in the areas of: air dispersion modelling,
transport modelling and instrumentation/sensors. Applicants with good
honours degrees in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electronic
engineering, physics, statistics, economics, psychology and related
disciplines will be considered.
Funding for each PhD project is sufficient to cover a student stipend of
approximately €14,000 per year and EU fees.
