PhD studentship at the University of Leeds, Institute for Transport Studies
This ESRC Collaborative Postgraduate Studentship has been set up in conjunction with The Scottish Government (TSG). Students under this scheme will have the opportunity to work closely alongside The Scottish Government and to contribute evidence to the process of policy development and delivery.
The aim of the PhD research is to assess if the Driver Improvement Scheme (DIS) in Scotland is having a positive impact on road safety and inform policy makers as to its future operation. The student will carry out a robust evaluation of the DIS in its current form, and where possible, suggest and test additions or alterations to the scheme. The methodologies may involve survey work, behavioural evaluation and accident analysis. We are looking for a student who has a Masters qualification with strong elements of behavioural science, research design and quantitative analysis. The student will join an active postgraduate group at ITS, and will be encouraged to present and publish their work. This ESRC/TSG scheme is now in its third year and networking and seminars involving all cohorts of PhD researchers are supported by TSG.
Students under this scheme will receive an enhanced stipend £2,000 in excess of the standard ESRC studentship award.
Closing Date: 14th July 2008
