Research Fellow
Starting salary: £27,332, rising annually to £29,866 (final pay award
pending)
A qualitative researcher is needed to undertake a sociological study,
funded by the ESRC entitled: A Sociological Investigation of the Everyday
Lives of Recovering Heroin Users. This is a two year fixed term
appointment from 1 October 2008, which could be on a secondment basis.
The project is being conducted in collaboration with the University of
York. You will work as part of a team and be involved in setting up the
study; conducting fieldwork, including in-depth interviews and periods of
observation with recovering and ex-heroin users; and contributing
significantly to analysing the data and disseminating the findings in a
range of media. A postgraduate qualification in Sociology, Anthropology or
a closely related discipline, and experience of qualitative research
methods and publishing in peer-reviewed journals are required. Some
evening and weekend work will be necessary.
