From The Australian, 30 April
[Brian] Castro [appointed to chair] wishes there had been creative writing
programs back in 1972 when he first started to try to shape words into some
literary form. He studied English lit in the conventional way at the
University of Sydney. "I think we had one writer who came to (talk to) us
and he said: 'You should be home writing'," Castro says.
His latest book, The Bath Fugues, is due out in October.
Sydney poet Jill Jones will join Castro at Adelaide as a senior lecturer,
thereby strengthening the creative writing program.
