Wasn't that like Picasso and his canaries the dead ones were quietly
replaced -he did say (knowingly)once that they seems to live a long time!!

Rabbit and Owl
In another Melbourne suburb
she lives with her husband,
three children and a rabbit.
Last night, she tells me,
about one a.m., he stepped out
into the back garden
and there staring at him
was a Powerful Owl.
He paid it great respect,
visiting here so far
from the wild.
But this morning
we could not find
the childrenšs pet rabbit.
I have not told them yet.
I feel for you, I reply.
Could you perhaps buy
a substitute rabbit
identical in all respects
and slip it quietly
into the empty hutch?
I expected a rebuke,
but she gave me a pained
smile and went on her way.
