You're right, P. I've just been reading a rather finely turned
rewriting of the Aeneid, Black Ships, which began with its author's
reading of a clay tablet from Ugarit, perhaps the last writing from
that doomed city: ‘The fleet is away. Black ships have been sighted…’.
