Hi Barney,
I've run into the exact same issue ... initially all users simply had to
maintain their own copy of the vomses directory or file but that does
not scale very well (especially if a vomses definition changes, which
fortunately does not happen very often).
I ended up patching the vomses libraries and simply removed the UID/GID
check using a binary editor (yuck!). I talked to the JRA1 VOMS folks
about it and they mentioned that this whole UID/GID check will be
removed in the near future.
