Based within the Environment Department at the Council Headquarters in
Haddington, the post’s primary task is to assist in maintaining and
supporting the Corporate Address Gazetteer, but there is also a
responsibility to assist with the maintenance and running of the Council's
Corporate GIS.
As a supplementary requirement, the post-holder is also to provide mapping
and GIS support for the Council’s land use planning function, as required.
An HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in GIS, Information Systems or
related discipline is required. Practical experience in land and property
management systems, particularly address gazetteers, is essential,
including an ability to manipulate spatial information and use address
cleansing techniques.
A thorough understanding of data standards such as BS7666 is also required.
Experience with CAPS Uniform and ESRI GIS software would be an advantage.
Well-developed communication skills are necessary, as the role has an
involvement in street naming and numbering duties and will likely involve
liaison with the public and developers.
A current full UK driving licence is required as some local travel may be
required, for which a casual users allowance is payable.
