POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH OFFICER - SWANSEA UNIVERSITY - GLACIOLOGY GROUP,
SCHOOL OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND SOCIETY
The School wishes to appoint a creative and innovative Research Officer
for a fixed term of 2 years with a preferred start date of 1st September
2008 to work on the Leverhulme Trust funded project GLIMPSE “Stability
of the Greenland Ice Sheet” within the Glaciology Group.
The Research Officer will work closely with others to develop methods
for mapping ice retreat around the margin of the Greenland Ice Sheet
using remotely sensed and field data. The work will require the fellow
to partake in challenging and remote fieldwork to undertake field
mapping and sampling for dating. There will be the opportunity to
utilise these data in constraining models of the ice sheet. The GLIMPSE
team forms part of Swansea Glaciology Group. We pride ourselves on being
a dynamic, friendly, and scientifically ambitious group. We are looking
for a creative and innovative individual, with a PhD in glacial geology,
glaciology or a numerate geoscience discipline to join our team. You
will be highly motivated, a natural and co-operative team player and
have excellent interpersonal communication skills (including written).
