Dear Colleagues,
You might be aware that there has been a substantial landslide at Black Ven
in Dorset overnight ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/7386923.stm
). This is reported as being the worst event in Dorset in a century.
Given that this landslide has such a long history of geotechnical and
engineering geological interest, I have quickly put together a page on my
landslide blog to provide some details about the Black Ven landslide and the
area affected, together with the rainfall that has been recorded in this
area of late. I hope to be able to update it as further information becomes
available (and am happy to host any pictures or other information that
people might be able to provide).
The blog is at:
http://daveslandslideblog.blogspot.com/
The site also hosts my monthly and annual fatal landslide maps, and details
of other landslides, ongoing research, etc. I hope that you find it useful.
Best wishes,
Dave Petley
