Architectural design In Dialogue with dis-Ability (AIDA) - 2 vacant PhD
positions
Key words: architecture, design, disability, innovation
Within the Design & Building Methodology (DBM) group of the K.U.Leuven,
Ann Heylighen studies design processes in architecture, at both the
micro (cognitive) level and the macro (socio-cultural/organisational)
level, with a focus on design knowledge embedded in projects (cases),
processes and people.
Within the Interculturalism, Migration & Minorities Research Centre
(IMMRC) of the K.U.Leuven, Patrick Devlieger coordinates research with
regard to disability.
At the intersection of DBM and IMMRC, a new interdisciplinary research
team is being established, supported by a Starting Independent Research
grant from the European Research Council.
The team will conduct a theoretical and methodological study of
architectural design in dialogue with disability.
It will investigate whether and how the spatial experience of persons
with a disability can inform architects' design process and can trigger
innovative design solutions that respect the human body and mind.
Currently two vacant PhD positions are available in team:
