Dear All,
Unfortunately, I cannot come to the meeting on 23 May, so here are my
thoughts on the directory.
We don't want it to be too onerous a task to put together or to complete
so I think it just needs to include the following:
- Types of recording e.g. oral history, radio, traditional music,
popular music, classical music, dialect, talks/lectures, events, etc.
- Media e.g. cylinders, shellac discs, lacquer discs, open reel tapes,
cassettes, etc.
- Collection remit e.g. The Essex Sound and Video Archive can only
collect and preserve recordings which relate to Essex.
- Collections of particular interest
- Approximate total number of recordings
If anybody needs more information than that, our contact details are
available and we're all nice people so they can contact us for further
details.
Hope you have a good meeting.
Martin

Subject: Revised BISA AGM Agenda
Here is a revised Agenda for the BISA AGM that is due to take place at
12:20 on 23 May in Aberystwyth.
One of the new items relates to a directory of sound archive holdings,
which we hope to include on the BISA website. Malachy, BISA's Webmaster,
has already done a lot of preparatory work on what this should include.
However, we would greatly appreciate ideas on what information should be
included about actual holdings. If you have any comments on this then
please post them on this listserv.
If you would like to add an agenda item or send your apologies then
please
contact me (e-mail [log in to unmask], tel. +44 (0)1603
222599).
