We are pleased to invite you once again to participate in this premier annual event on research and
applications of recommender technologies.
The 2nd ACM International Conference on Recommender Systems, builds on the success of the
Recommenders06 School in Bilbao, Spain; and the 1st International Conference in Minneapolis,
USA. In these events many members of the practitioner and research communities valued the rich
sharing of ideas made possible by the shared plenary sessions. The 2nd International conference
will combine the same close interaction among practitioners and researchers with a fully refereed
published collection of papers. The proceedings, which are available both as a bound volume and
via the ACM Digital Library, are expected to be widely read and cited.
In addition to a regular technical program, there will be tutorials covering the state-of-the-art of
this domain, an industrial program comprising of panel discussions and a practice/industry-paper
track. We also expect to have one keynote speaker who will address the major applications of
recommendation technologies in industry.
Also, the RecSys08 Doctoral Symposium provides an opportunity for doctoral students to explore
and develop their research interests in an interdisciplinary workshop, under the guidance of a
panel of distinguished research faculty. We invite students who feel they would benefit from this
kind of feedback on their dissertation work to apply for this unique opportunity to share their
work withstudents in a similar situation as well as senior researchers in the field. Additional
information is available at http://recsys.acm.org.
