30th June - 11th July 2008
Summer School on the Politics, International Relations and Political
Economy of contemporary China
TOChina, Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Torino,
Italy
www.to-china.it
At its second edition, the TOChina Summer School offers a unique
programme focussing on the politics, geopolitics and IPE of today's
China. Working language is English only.
Given the sensitivity and intrinsic dynamism of the topic, lectures will
be held by top-of-the range China experts from three continents. Among
the others, this year's 35 selected participants will have the
opportunity to interact with Bates Gill (SIPRI director in Stockholm and
former Freeman Chair in China Studies, Center for Strategic and
International Studies, Washington, DC) and Yu Keping (Peking University
professor and advisor to President Hu Jintao), but also with Kent Deng
(LSE, London), Ian Taylor (St. Andrews, Scotland), Kerry Brown (Chatham
House, London), and several other well-known scholars in the field.
All information on eligibility criteria, application and living in Italy
are set out on the TOChina website at www.to-china.it.
15 scholarships are made available thanks to the support of two major
Italian academic foundations.
Applications are invited from postgraduate students who have achieved a
Bachelor honours degree at 1st or 2:1 level. Professionals and non
degree-holder undergraduate students enrolled in a China/Asia-related
course having completed at least one year of course may be considered. A
small number of ad-hoc auditors interested in some sessions only will be
admitted.
The deadline for applications is June 2nd 2008.
