MRC Studentship
The Division of Stroke Medicine has an active research interest in the design and analysis of clinical trials in stroke. We are now inviting applications (UK/EU students eligible only - these studentships are not open to international students) for a 3-year Medical Research Council (MRC) funded PhD studentship in medical statistics. Motivated by real clinical trial data, the project will involve the exploration, development and implementation of appropriate statistical methods for trials assessing the treatment and prevention of stroke. The project will focus on the ordinal analysis of stroke and vascular event data and encompass sample size estimation, time to event analyses and meta-analysis. The candidate will also gain experience in handling data from ongoing trials and will support departmental colleagues with their statistical analyses.
Applications and Entry requirements:
Candidates must have a higher degree in medical statistics or related subject. The studentship is fully funded by the MRC for 3 years, including fees and a stipend of £12,940 in 2008/09.
