Biometrician

This is an excellent opportunity for a Statistician with experience in
applied Statistics to use that experience and join the world's premier
research-based pharmaceutical company that discovers, develops,
manufactures and markets a wide range of innovative, value-added
pharmaceutical products around the world. They require a Biometrician to
work with a small team based in the company's UK office in the south-east
of England and a larger team of Statisticians in the USA.
JOB ROLE: The primary purpose of the role is to provide high quality
statistical support to the Project teams in Veterinary Medicine Clinical
Development.
KEY DUTIES & ACTIVITIES:
Statistical support including:
• The provision of statistical input to study protocols, development
of randomisation and statistical summary and analysis programs.
• Advising on statistical content of study reports and regulatory
filing documents.
• Taking the role of lead biometrician for one or more projects after
an initial period.
• Assisting with Biometrics training sessions
• Participating in the development of improved global statistical
procedures.
• Liaising with colleagues in the US to ensure that a common approach
is taken to analysing clinical study data.
• Keeping abreast of the relevant biometric advances and recommending
changes and new statistical techniques.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum BSc in Applied Statistics or related discipline. MSc
preferred.
• Experience to date in applied statistics with a good knowledge of
basic data analysis methods, and the ability to programme in SAS.
• Statistics with a biological or animal science background desirable.
• Familiarity with mixed model techniques and a thorough knowledge of
experimental design.
• An interest in applying statistical ideas in practical situations
plus a general interest in scientific issues and methodology.
PERSONAL SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:
• Good communication skills.
• An ability to work in a regulated environment and be able to work
on a number of different projects in parallel.
• If necessary, the desire and ability to relocate to south-east
England.
