The School of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics invites applications for a Lectureship in Statistics with a projected starting date of September 1, 2008, or as soon as possible thereafter. You will be expected to teach
on the School’s MSc Applied Statistics programmes and BSc Mathematics and Statistics, to contribute to curriculum
development, and to conduct and publish high quality research in an area of statistics or probability.
Candidates from all areas of Statistics or Probability are invited to apply. We would be particularly interested,
however, in an appointment in biostatistics, medical statistics or bioinformatics to develop postgraduate teaching and collaborative research in this area. You should have a PhD in Statistics or a closely related discipline, or
be close to completion. You should also have an established record of high-quality research or show strong promise
as a researcher.
The School of Economics, Mathematics and Statistics brings together research and teaching in Mathematics and Statistics, Economics and Finance within a single School, thereby creating significant interdisciplinary synergies.
The School’s teaching is informed by the latest research and the needs of employers, and academic staff maintain
close links with external institutions through statistical and financial consultancy, collaborative research, and

Salary: £30,977 rising to £43,023 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
This job is full time and permanent. The salary quoted above is inclusive of London allowance. The initial salary
award will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful applicant. The appointment may be subject
to a probationary period of up to three years.
