COURSE ON RANDOMIZED CLINICAL TRIALS
After successful running of its three-day course in June 2006 and 2007,
the Clinical Trials Unit at Primary Care Sciences, Keele University are
announcing the dates for the next “Practical Introduction to Running
Randomized Clinical Trials” course which will be held from the 23rd to
25th June 2008.
Course objectives –
• To develop an awareness of clinical trial design and methodology
• To evaluate key components of clinical trials, including issues of
trial recruitment, randomization, blinding and data quality
• To appreciate the value of embedding qualitative data within clinical
trials
• To appreciate the role of research governance as it applies to
clinical trials
• To provide practical experience of protocol development and an
understanding of the requirements for running a successful clinical trial
• To enhance skills of critical appraisal of published clinical trials
• To gain basic skills of trial data management and analysis
