Dear Allstaters! I come to you to see if anybody in the list could
provide some insights to avoid a terrible dilemma that is coming to my
brain, regarding the topic of "demonstrating things" in statistics.
I use to teach statistics (basic and inferential) on an applied basis
(let's say what is the mean, the standard deviation, hypothesis tests,
etc. and what are their uses, their applications, practical examples,
etc. etc.)
Suddenly I was requested to introduce some demonstration activities in
the sense of how to derive some mathematical formulas for those basic
and more advanced concepts.
I am not very familiar (since my student time) with those demonstrations
and I would like to get some papers, books, web pages, etc. where this
issue is explained and treated in a way that I can follow, and later
reply with students. Any help is really appreciated.
Best!
