Applications are invited for a Research Associate in the newly established Postgraduate Statistics Centre, a Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL), situated within the Department of Mathematics and Statistics (see www.maths.lancs.ac.uk/psc). The department was rated 'Excellent' in the last Teaching Quality Assessment study and Statistics has a 6* RAE rating. The Centre's focus is on enhancing and extending postgraduate statistical training in a research-led environment.
This post will be set up as a training fellowship to not only provide support for the Department's current and new teaching initiatives in postgraduate statistics, but also to develop the capability of the post holder as a practicing academic statistician. You will be expected to develop research interests that enhance the research profile of the department and to collaborate with researchers in the planning of new initiatives. Research interests within the context of statistical education would be particularly welcome. Supervision/training will be provided.
Applicants must possess the ability to work as a team, to design new teaching and learning initiatives and have excellent communication skills to explain statistical concepts clearly to researchers and students, making full use of the innovative teaching environment provided by the new CETL building.
Candidates should hold, or expect soon to complete an MSc or PhD in Statistics, Medical Statistics or Applied Statistics.
