The Centre for Experimental Cancer Medicine at Barts and The London School
of Medicine and Dentistry is currently advertising for a Lecture in
Biostatistics. The Centre (Lead: Professor John Gribben) delivers a
research programme of clinical trials of novel cancer therapeutics
spanning early phase (phase 1 & 2) in the dedicated DH/CR-UK Experimental
Cancer Medicine Centre through to late phase (phase 3 & 4) studies
administered through the NCRN NE Thames Regional Network Centre.
Applications are invited for a senior medical statistician. The successful
applicant would be expected to lead and develop the portfolio of
statistical collaboration and consultancy with clinical researchers across
several medical areas. In addition, the individual may participate in
applied statistics research and contribute to the Institute's teaching
programme. The post holder will be a member of the ECM Steering Group.
Applicants should ideally have a good (first or upper second) first degree
(preferably in a biological discipline) and a postgraduate qualification
in quantitative statistics (or a closely related subject). They should
have experience working as a medical statistician in collaborative
clinical research and expertise in key aspects of study design and
analysis, particularly applied to randomised clinical trials; they should
be aware of the latest statistical techniques. Experience in the use of
statistical packages is essential together with good verbal and written
communication skills, including the ability to explain complex statistical
issues to non-statisticians.
