Research Assistant in Statistics for three years in the Lifecourse
Epidemiology and Population Oral Health Research Group in the Department
of Oral and Dental Science at the University of Bristol.
Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant in Statistics
at the University of Bristol. The appointee will be part of the Lifecourse
Epidemiology and Population Oral Health Research Group, based in the
Department of Oral and Dental Science. This multi-disciplinary group is
led by Andy Ness (Chair in Epidemiology). The group currently comprises:
Jonathan Sandy (Professor of Orthodontics), Steve Thomas (Consultant
Senior Lecturer in Maxillofacial Surgery), Dr Sam Leary (Lecturer in
Statistics), Dr Charlotte Atkinson (Lecturer in Nutrition), Dr Lucy Stead
(Clinical Research Fellow in Paediatric Dentistry) and Dr Andrea Waylen
(lecturer in Psychology).
You will work mainly on analysis of data collected in the Avon
Longitudinal Study of Parents and Children examining the lifecourse
determinants of obesity and blood pressure. You will also be expected to
work on other projects with colleagues in the Lifecourse Epidemiology and
Population Oral Health Research Group. Your main responsibility will be
research but you will be expected to act as a tutor for undergraduate
dental students on the epidemiology and biostatistics course and to act a
project supervisor for undergraduate dental student research projects. You
will also be expected to offer statistical advice and support to
colleagues in the Lifecourse Epidemiology and Population Oral Health
Research Group and in the Department.
The post is available from the 1st September 2008
The salary scale is £28,290 to £31,840 depending on experience
