Dear All
I set my LIS Medical account so I only get the digest and as you say its mostly ILL requests now. I joined to find out about cutting edge medical librarianship issues, and would welcome the splitting off of the ILL requests. I think it would encourage the discussion of issues again. Hopefully not too much Search 2... I think Core Content is best for that.
Best wishes
Sarah

Subject: Outreach plan template
Hello all,
I'm putting together an 'outreach plan template' for the team leaders in =
my
library unit.
The idea is for them to decide where outreach efforts should be focussed
(e.g. a particular user group or health board), who will do it, what the
best approach will be etc; and to fill in all of these details on the tem=
plate.
I'd like to see examples of similar documents which might have been used
before. Does anyone have a training/outreach plan template on file that
they'd be willing to share?
Thanks and Best,
Rob Westwood

Dear Sue,
=20
I'm afraid you are not the only one to have experienced this problem
this morning. From what I can gather everything is ok now, but there was
definitely a problem around 11.00-11.30 this morning. I have already
reported it to our developer team and will post an update when I know
what the problem was.
=20
Thanks for your feedback.
=20
Best wishes,
Angus.

Subject: Splitting the list to separate out ILL requests?
It may be the time to split the list up to distinguish between ILL messages=
and all of the other messages. I have been taking soundings from other co=
lleagues both in and out of UHMLG. Lis-medical is the open list for UHMLG a=
lthough this fact might be new to some listers. My observation is from the=
p.o.v. of being the list owner for the UHMLG lists and also being an ordin=
ary member of this list too.
My suggestion would be to set up a list called lis-medical-ill (or should =
that be lis-medic-ill!) for the ILL posters. In this way, lis-medical woul=
dn't be so off-putting for those people who don't want to see ILL postings.=
In between the ILL requests (which are incredibly important, so I'm not k=
nocking them at all) there are nuggets of gold which sometimes get lost.
Lis-medical is quiet these days because of the other ways in which people c=
ommunicate and also because most of the hectic activity seems to be on any =
list talking about Search 2.0! However, it still has a bright future, as l=
ong as we don't clog it up.
What do people think?

Yes please - I have made this suggestion before so would welcome it.
I know some people (esp library managers) who have left the list because
of sheer volume of irrelevant postings.
Many thanks.
