This I would be interested in but I'm not sure how it would work. I've
been thinking there should be one big list/database at some point.

Perhaps now is the time to tackle the production of an online union
list. Does each region not have its own? And couldn't these be
combined in some way?

It may be the time to split the list up to distinguish between ILL
messages and all of the other messages. I have been taking soundings
from other colleagues both in and out of UHMLG. Lis-medical is the open
list for UHMLG although this fact might be new to some listers. My
observation is from the p.o.v. of being the list owner for the UHMLG
lists and also being an ordinary member of this list too.
My suggestion would be to set up a list called lis-medical-ill (or
should that be lis-medic-ill!) for the ILL posters. In this way,
lis-medical wouldn't be so off-putting for those people who don't want
to see ILL postings. In between the ILL requests (which are incredibly
important, so I'm not knocking them at all) there are nuggets of gold
which sometimes get lost.
Lis-medical is quiet these days because of the other ways in which
people communicate and also because most of the hectic activity seems to
be on any list talking about Search 2.0! However, it still has a bright
future, as long as we don't clog it up.
What do people think?
