Hi Nancy,
This may be too specific as they look at particular aspects, but you
never know... We've published a couple of topic reviews within the NLH
Specialist Library for Surgery, Theatres and Anaesthesia that look at
elements of the doctor/patient relationship:
www.library.nhs.uk/theatres/ViewResource.aspx?resID=259250&tabID=290&cat
ID=10156 looks at informed consent
www.library.nhs.uk/theatres/ViewResource.aspx?resID=250843&tabID=288&cat
ID=9792 looks at doctor/patient communication skills.
Both of these were written by a lay member of the College's Patient
Liaison Group, and include comment and references based on the patient
perspective.
We're also due (any day now!) to add another review looking at the way
in which risk is communicated to patients, again coming it at from both
angles - it'll be flagged up on the SL home page,
www.library.nhs.uk/theatres
(OK, three Theatres SL URLs in one message - that's my bit of promotion
for the week out of the way... ;-)
Cheers,
Tom.

Subject: Patient perceptions of doctors
Dear all
I am currently undertaking a literature review to find information on
patient expectations/perceptions of what they think a good doctor should
be like.
I've already searched Medline, PsycInfo, CINAHL, EMBASE, ASSIA, Web of
Science and the Department of Health, NHS, BMA and GMC web sites.
The review group have already looked at the Dipex web site for patient
views too.
This search has brought back some good results but can anyone suggest
any relevant resources that I may have missed?
Best wishes
Nancy
