Dear Karsten,
I have checked the suggestion you've made, thank you. Unfortunately this did not turn out to be a solution. Any other thoughts? On different note, I agree that it is not preferable to mix using SPM2 and 5, however, I have been doing that for quite some time and it seems to be working very well :)

Could it be that - for what reason whatsoever - your result directory (or the files in it) are write protected? (Perhaps through copying across machines, platforms, user-accounts, etc.). Than this behaviour would be normal. Also mixing SPM2 and SPM5 is not generally a good idea, but that might not cause the problem here.
Good luck,
Karsten

Hello all,
I am having problems with the contrast manager in SPM. I am alternatively using SPM2 and 5 for fMRI studies and VBM respectively. I can no longer define a contrast name in the contrast manager of both versions, therefore preventing me from making new contrasts. I would be very appreciative of your suggestions,
