Dear Colleagues
On 27 October 1969 Indonesia and Malaysia signed three continental
shelf boundaries in Malacca Strait, off the east coast of Malaysia
and from Tanjong Datu on Borneo (Charney and Alexander, 1993, Vol.1,
pp 1024-5)
Points 11 and 12 define the first segment of the boundary from the
Mouth of Malacca Strait northwards into the South China Sea.
Point 11 lies within the area that would fall to Singapore if the
three countries agreed to use lines of strict equidistance. In fact 6
nm of the line joining Points 11 and 12 would lie within the area
enclosed by lines of strict equidistance north of Pedra Branca.
Sincerely,
Victor
