Centre for Transport Studies
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering
Salary in the range: £40,050 to £44,730 per annum
We invite applications for a new Lectureship in Transport Risk Management, based in the
Centre for Transport Studies at Imperial College London.
The Centre for Transport Studies (www.imperial.ac.uk/cts) is one of the largest and most
successful transport research and teaching groups in Europe and is based in the RAE 6*
Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. It includes the Transport Risk Management
Centre (TRMC), which undertakes research and teaching into the risks related to all modes of
transport including rail, road, aviation and water. Current work focuses principally on safety,
but the Centre is also keen to address other forms of risk, including environmental risk.
The new Lecturer will be expected to play a major role in continuing and developing the
research and teaching of the TRMC. The lecturer will work alongside the Director of the
TRMC, Professor Andrew Evans and with other members of the Centre for Transport Studies,
the Department and other departments of the College.
The TRMC is funded by the Lloyd's Register Educational Trust, which is an independent
charity wholly funded by the Lloyd's Register Group to support education, training and
research in transport, engineering and technology for the benefit of all.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor John Polak, Head of the Centre for Transport
