Project Officer
c. £25,000 p.a. plus excellent benefits
The Wellcome Trust is the largest charity in the UK. It funds innovative
biomedical research, in the UK and internationally, with the aim of
improving human and animal health.
You will support the team in implementing and delivering a portfolio of
activities in two key areas of the Wellcome Trust's public engagement work;
supporting researchers and working with the broadcast media. Your role will
involve building relationships between researchers and the broadcast and
public engagement communities, working with key stakeholders and seeking
new contacts. You will also assist with a wide range of other projects
including planning and coordinating training and networking events and
other marketing and communication activities.
You will therefore need to demonstrate:
- a science degree or degree in related area;
- experience of science communication and/or public engagement and ability
to demonstrate an understanding of current issues;
- previous experience of organising and delivering events and excellent
organisational skills;
- good IT skills (ideally Microsoft Office);
- excellent communication skills and networking ability;
- experience of working both independently and as part of a small team;
- self motivated, with a flexible and creative approach to work.
In addition some experience of working in the broadcast sector and
knowledge of grant funding processes and/or the education sector would all
be advantageous.
