TED again - tackling chaos on a broad scale but with localised
decision making and with a strong democratic ethic:
Talks Cameron Sinclair:
TED Prize wish: Open-source architecture to house the world
http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/view/id/54
We have people in Adelaide trying similar approaches for PABX
hardware. Open source hardware for community phone systems.
The core concept which is suggested by Sinclair is that the local
community should be empowered by the process. He prioritises the local
process over control of the product. This focus changes the locus of
control and would make for an interesting and varied result.
Projects which have a specific physical presence will orient
differently to projects which have a digital expression or
transmission. The community can be more diffuse online.
