--------------- APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTINGS
----------------------------
Here at MLA North East we have been approached by a rep for the local
council (from the fantastically named 'Resilience Planning Team') about
an annual Public Information Guide.
These are produced by most Councils apparently, and distributed to
hundreds of thousands of local residents directly, often bearing the
words 'Important Information - Please keep in a safe place'.
Though this is not something we would broker directly I thought it was
one of the best marketing opportunities for museums, libraries and
archives if they do not already utilise this service. Apologies if
people are already aware of this but I have never come across it before
and never received one as a resident.
It is used primarily to disseminate information about emergency services
but there is ample space for other local authority services which can be
bought. It struck me this has the following advantages to other
marketing:
- It is delivered and at least accessible to a much higher number of
local users than most other marketing tools
- It is potentially going to be re-read on multiple occasions
- It has a potential life span of a year
Again, apologies if people are already aware and using this, but if not
and you are interested I suggest contacting your local council to
investigate.
Kind regards,
Richard Archer
