A post-doctoral position is available in the frame of a National Program (ANR) for a period of one
year. The research is in the area of laser-induced molecular alignment.
For the last few years, our group has been studying the alignment of molecules induced by short
laser pulses. The techniques that we have developed to detect and characterize molecular
alignment rest upon the change of the optical properties of the medium when molecules are
aligned. Using these non-intrusive techniques, we have investigated different strategies to
produce and control the alignment of linear and non-linear molecules. The present position aims
at exploring new effects related to the alignment of molecules in contact with some environment
as well as to investigate molecular orientation.
The experimental project will be performed in one of the following topics:
1. Alignment in dissipative environment induced by collisions: strong-field collision spec-
troscopy and control of decoherence
2. Laser-controlled manipulation of molecules in nanoporous solids
3. Field-free molecular orientation produced by half-cycle pulse
The laboratory is very well equipped for these projects. The apparatus available includes two
amplified Ti:Sa mode locked laser (100 fs, 100 Hz and 1 KHz), a short-pulse (30 fs) non-collinear
optical parametric amplifier (NOPA) tunable between 500 nm and 700 nm, pulse shaper apparatus,
devices for short pulse characterization (SPIDER and single-shot autocorrelator), supersonic free
jets. A full range of vacuum, diagnostic and detection apparatus are also available.
The position will suit post-doctoral candidates who have a background in one or (preferably)
more of the following areas: ultrafast laser spectroscopy, femtosecond laser techniques, ultrafast
non-linear optics, wave-packets dynamics, pulse shaping and characterization of ultrashort laser
pulses.
Informal enquiries can be made to Prof. O. Faucher ([log in to unmask]).
The net annual salary will be 19200 € (social insurance contribution included).
Interested applicants should submit, preferably by e-mail (1) a Curriculum Vitae (2) a letter of
application highlighting recent relevant experience (3) a list of publications (4) the names,
addresses and e-mail addresses of at least two referees. Applications should be sent to: Prof. O.
Faucher ([log in to unmask]), Institut Carnot de Bourgogne, UMR 5209 CNRS-
Université de Bourgogne, 9 Av. A. Savary, BP 47 870, F-21078 Dijon Cedex, France. Closing date :
