Dear Bernard,
Newscuttings from the time are in the local Stoke Climsland Parish Archive, as are more recent photos of the tunnel and Excelsior Mine area (do e-mail me if you'd like access to the Archive). References to it and to what happened there are in two local publications.
Meanwhile, the best description is is probably in the full taped interview carried out by members of the Calstock Archive (then Tamar Valley Project) with the ?manager of the time, in the 1990's - it has been transcribed too (again, do e-mail directly for the current team's contact details).
